ABOUT the OIL IN THE ALLEY Performance:
OIL IN THE ALLEY were arena rock superstars twenty years ago and now they’re back! That’s the premise—in reality, veteran improvisers R. Kevin Garcia Doyle and Sean T.C. O’Malley improvise all the lyrics of Oil’s ‘classic hits’ backed by stellar musicians Eric Folk on drums and Brian X on bass.
It’s like a concert. It’s like an improv comedy show. It’s like nothing else you’ve ever seen.
OIL will perform a 90-minute set of improvised rock songs with all the trappings. They’ve got great music. They’ve got attitude.
They’ve got a unique show: unlike most improv shows, you won’t see the performers break character or ask for suggestions with an Emcee persona. The show uses Invisible Improv, with song title “suggestions” flowing naturally from the interactions between superstar rockers and you, their superfans.
OIL IN THE ALLEY has improvised over 200 songs with shows at LaughTrack Theatre, Mark’s Garage, at the Improvaganza Festival of Improv, at the O’ahu Fringe Festival, and on the Mainstage at the Hawaii Book and Music Festival. OIL IN THE ALLEY began performing in December of 2009.
