Founded in 2012 by local actor Kimee Balmilero (Noelani Cunha on Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I.), improvhi (or improv hawaii) is a group of young (and not so young) improvisers, comedians, actors, teachers, parents, realtors, surfers, data analysts, creatives and every day folks based in Honolulu who like to make people laugh. Our mission is to build confidence through comedy. We also enjoy dinner buffets, crab legs, karaoke, opening presents, strong choices and failing brilliantly. Let’s play!
They like us! They really like us! Check out these awesome reviews:
“Whatever you imagine about improv, put it away. I have seen this group do their improv comedy several times and each time, I walk away laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes. Quick and sassy, this troupe loves what they are doing and it shows.” – Tara C. from Los Angeles, CA
“I recently attended a class at Improv Hi and had an absolute blast! The principles of the class were based on thinking outside of the box and allowed everyone to get out of his or her comfort zone in a theatrical way. I learned a lot about myself and made some great friends too. Can’t wait til the next class!” – Megan K. from Severn, MD
“This class was fun and I felt a significant difference in the way I approach things. I’m not as stressed to know all of the details and feel more confident to trust that I know what to say. When I really have no clue, I now have some tools to speak as if I do. GREAT workshop for anyone who wants to be a better communicator! I definitely think this should replace any boring powerpoint at orientations. Excellent!” – Diane K. from Honolulu, HI
“These artists are top notch!! I just saw a couple of them on Maui last night perform at our improv center! Cant wait to come to Oahu and see a show here. Please come over to Maui again!!” – Deanna S. from Kihei, HI
“I took private improv classes from Kimee and am amazed at how useful it is for so many parts of my life. I am not the type to wanna be funny, but I do want to think on my feet and be able to go with the flow in a conversation. My former business associate and I took it together so that we could learn to play off of each other. It was fun and it also taught me a lot about connecting to someone else and communicating in a partnership.” – Sam M. from Honolulu, HI
