Sketch Comedy Writing Classes w/ LA Based Writer Andy Kula

Love “Saturday Night Live?” How about “Kids in the Hall?” Got great ideas for a sketch, but don’t know where to start?

Well this class is JUST FOR YOU!

Join LA based writer Andy Kula (Upright Citizens Brigade, iO West, Drug Puppy) for SKETCH WRITING AWESOMENESS starting February 1st!

This class will cover the basics of sketch writing, including structure and comedic style. Students will learn to create sketches using writing activities and lessons from TV classics like Mr. Show, Saturday Night Live, and Chappell’s Show. Assignments will require students to generate and develop ideas into written sketches of various forms, and workshop activities will help them strengthen their execution and sharpen their humor. Through the class, students will produce a packet of written sketches that can be performed on stage or produced for video.

Deets:
8 saturdays 11am-2pm starting February 1st*
10:30am “study hall” with complimentary coffee and snacks.

$225 for all 8 classes

Andy Kula Bio:
After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2007, Andy Kula moved to Los Angeles, where he has studied sketch and improv at the UCB Theatre. He has performed with the sketch group, Drug Puppy, and several improv teams at IO West, UCB, Second City, and other venues. He currently attends graduate school at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, pursuing an MFA in Writing for Screen and Television.
