improv & sketch comedy in hawaii
We’re Baaaaack….Laughtrack Theater Company (LTC), Hawaii’s premiere improvisational comedy theater company, is breaking in its new space with its first show this year. The show will feature the most recent graduates of Laughtrack Theater’s training center in their debut improv performance and will also showcase veteran local improv talent including Laughtrack Theater co-founder and artistic director Shannon Winpenny, who has been hailed as the Islands’ leading improviser with more than 10 years of training at Chicago’s famed Second City.
The show, which will be held Tuesday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. at 1116 Smith Street, will also be LTC member Scott Hanada’s last show in the Islands before he leaves to further his improv training at Chicago’s Second City. Hanada is an early graduate of LTC’s training center, has been performing improvisational comedy locally for seven years, and has been an instructor for Laughtrack Theater’s training center for three years.
The show will consist of three long-form improvisational pieces performed by three groups: first-time improvisors “Exquisite Device,” LTC member group “HMS Floppy Baby” and “Aftermath” with improv veterans Winpenny and Hanada.
The show will be staged at 1116 Bethel Street in the historic Mendonca Building (also known as “The Creative” or “Art Smith”) in the heart of Chinatown.
