Your Character is Not a Joke

If you aren’t emotionally moved by your characters, your audience never will be. Our relationship with our characters is just like any relationship, and like all relationships, there is a fear of vulnerability. This workshop strips away those chances to evade easy laughs and forces performers to make strong emotionally invested choices that will be more powerful on stage than you would think possible. This workshop contains some specific tools and terminology from Harold Second Beats, but is applicable to all scenework.

Bill began performing in Michigan in 1994 where he performed for six years before moving to Phoenix, AZ. Bill helped organize the first Phoenix Improv Festival in 2002, spent two years training at iO West in Los Angeles and was one of the founding members of The Torch Theatre.

Currently, Bill performs with Apollo 12 and Galapagos in Phoenix. He is an instructor at The Torch Theatre and performs and teaches around North America. He performed at Improvaganza Hawaii festival of Improv 5 times with Galapagos.
