DESCRIPTION:Mark Beltzman is coming back to Oahu!  We got A LOT of great feedback from his last workshops and we are SUPER excited to welcome him back to the islands! \nThe ART OF ALLOWING IMPROV WORKSHOP is for the ensemble actor and improvisor who desires to cultivate the ability to flawlessly and spontaneously create magic on stage and in life. “IT” comes from a place of joy and connection to one’s source intuition\, and is attained by giving yourself to the art form through LISTENING rather than thinking\, from ALLOWING rather than forcing\, from being FULLY PRESENT in the moment and FOCUSING on CONNECTION with your partner and your environment. You will understand why making your partner look good makes you in turn look twice as good and makes the work flow. Ultimately\, you will understand that this is how ensemble is created. \nThis workshop will focus on scene work. You will learn to develop tools to let scenes emerge organically\, including: \ncultivating a heightened sense of listening\ncultivating a heightened sense of awareness of the scene around you\, i.e. environment\, textures\, emotions\, body languages\, sounds\, etc.\nlearning the game within the scene\nmaking your partner look good\nfinding the joy in the exploration\ngetting out of your own way to allow creativity to flow\nunderstanding that the true magic lies in the synchronicity of you\, your partner and the audience all discovering a point of focus at the same time \nABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:\nMark Beltzman has been acting\, writing and directing since 1981. He was a founding member of Improv Olympic in Chicago and of the legendary group\, Barons Barracudas. Mark has worked and directed at the famed Second City in Chicago. He directed many improvisational and theatrical productions at Second City in Chicago and Los Angeles\, including the Second City Alumni Jam. He was also instructor/director at The Second City Training Center\, Improv Olympic West and the Upfront Comedy Showcase as well as all over the UK\, London\, Brighton and Bristol. Mostly funny ones…right? Get your creative juices flowing and bring in more customers! \nABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: \nDavid Razowsky is the respected former artistic director of the Second City Los Angeles. As a performer at Second City he worked with Steve Carrel\, Stephen Colbert\, Rachel Dratch\, and Chris Farley\, among others. David has directed Second City in Chicago\, Los Angeles\, Detroit\, and The Second City National Touring Company. David is a consultant for Dreamworks\, and has directed two of Amsterdam’s Boom Chicago theatre’s productions– RockStars\, and Live at the Leidseplein – Your Privacy is Our Business. He is a member of the Reduced Shakespeare Company\, and performed in their sold-out run The Complete Works of William Shakespeare\, Abridged at the Kennedy Center in Washington\, D.C. DESCRIPTION:Improvhi is BEYOND excited to bring the respected and famed instructor DAVE RAZOWSKY! \nImprovisation and comedy writing are FANTASTIC tools for not only performers\, but BUSINESS MINDED FOLKS as well!  Improv helps you to think on your feet and outside of the box.  Improv games and exercises support team building and group mind. Students walk away with more confident in themselves and their product and are ready to take on whatever the world throws at them! Sketch and comedy writing allows a business with true storytelling and how to capture an audience.  Think about all the Superbowl commercials you’ve ever seen and which ones REALLY stand out to you.  Mostly funny ones…right? Get your creative juices flowing and bring in more customers! \nABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: \nDavid Razowsky is the respected former artistic director of the Second City Los Angeles. As a performer at Second City he worked with Steve Carrel\, Stephen Colbert\, Rachel Dratch\, and Chris Farley\, among others. David has directed Second City in Chicago\, Los Angeles\, Detroit\, and The Second City National Touring Company. David is a consultant for Dreamworks\, and has directed two of Amsterdam’s Boom Chicago theatre’s productions– RockStars\, and Live at the Leidseplein – Your Privacy is Our Business. He is a member of the Reduced Shakespeare Company\, and performed in their sold-out run The Complete Works of William Shakespeare\, Abridged at the Kennedy Center in Washington\, D.C. He is a co-founder of The Annoyance Theatre\, and has written for The Simpsons Comic\, The Simpsons nationally syndicated Sunday comic strip\, and was commissioned to write a film treatment for The Simpsons’ creator Matt Groening.  David is the voice of Dixon\, the world’s coolest adult\, in ABC’s animated series\, The Weekenders\, and has appeared on Spin City\, Roseanne\, andLate Night with David Letterman as the voice of Albert Brook’s parrot. \nABOUT THE WORKSHOP: \n\nSketch Comedy Writing – May 27th\, 28th\, 29th\, 30th 6:30pm-9:30pm \n\n\nEnjoy shows like “Saturday Night Live” or “Kids in the Hall” or “Mr. Show?” Ever think\, “That would make a good sketch”? This class will cover the basics of sketch comedy writing.  In one week students will learn structure\, heighteing and discover various comedic styles.  Through class\, students will produce at least one sketch that can be performed on stage or produced for video. \nSPACE IS VERY LIMITED!!! \nBe sure to sign up early for our “EARLY BIRD” specials! \nSEE YOU THERE!

Razowsky’s two-day master class will focus the actor to spontaneously respond through compulsion rather than what choice is “right or wrong.” The actor will learn the power of working from impulse and true-play in the present moment. Prepare to see your craft in a new light\, prepare to see with new eyes\, and prepare to be rejuvenated! \n Group Scenes Reduced – May 26th 6:30pm-9:30pm \n\nA group scene doesn’t have to be a confusing or feared clusterfunk. Get yourself into that scene! Razowsky’s workshop will show how the art of the three- person (+!) scene is simple once it’s broken down\, leading you to stronger\, challenging\, surprising\, and easy long-form scenes. DESCRIPTION:All projects\, businesses\, shows\, etc need time to develop before the right balance and formula is discovered. \nThe Improvhi Lab is an opportunity for folks to work together\, inspire each other and develop their current projects. \nThe main area will be used by new and upcoming teams or formats for practice. These teams or formats may be featured in a future Improvhi “Test Kitchen” show. \nThe conference room will be used for a writers circle. All levels welcome. We will focus on sketch and comedy writing…BUT feel free to bring whatever work you want! We’ll the start the night off with quick intros and will write\, write\, write.
