SUMMARY:Oil in the Alley Improv Rock at The Dragon Upstairs: 80s night!
DESCRIPTION:RELIVE THE BEST OF OIL IN THE ALLEY and come dressed for the 80s.COSTUME CONTEST with Oil-related prizes!BURLESQUE PerformanceAnd OIL will be on FIRE! \n\n\n\nThe show begins at 10 with a 90-min show by OIL IN THE ALLEY’s full 4-piece band featuring a burlesque performance by MissFortune of Cherry Blossom Cabaret. \n\n\n\n$5 cover? That’s Nothing! (but yes.) \n\n\n\nOIL is rocking hard at their first show in the year of the Dragon\, so what better place to do it than The Dragon Upstairs? This cool intimate club is a beautiful setting and you’ll be up close with the rock heroes of your youth. \n\n\n\nCome dressed to the 80s hilt to win costume contest prizes and to support a video being shot by our videographer from Kuala Lumpur. \n\n\n\nDance into the wee hours with Pete & Kelly playing 80s tunes (probably an OIL hit or two) until 2 am. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nABOUT the OIL IN THE ALLEY Performance: \n\n\n\nOIL IN THE ALLEY were arena rock superstars twenty years ago and now they’re back! That’s the premise—in reality\, veteran improvisers R. Kevin Garcia Doyle and Sean T.C. O’Malley improvise all the lyrics of Oil’s ‘classic hits’ backed by Eric Folk on drums and Brian X on bass. \n\n\n\nIt’s like a concert. It’s like an improv comedy show. It’s like nothing else you have ever seen. \n\n\n\nOIL will perform two 40-minute sets of improvised rock songs with all the trappings. They’ve got great music. They’ve got fog. They’ve got attitude. They’ve got a unique show: unlike most improv shows\, you won’t see the performers break character or ask for suggestions with an Emcee persona. The show uses Invisible Improv\, with song title “suggestions” flowing naturally from the interactions between superstar rockers and you\, their superfans. \n\n\n\nOIL IN THE ALLEY has performed many times at LaughTrack Theatre\, as well as at Mark’s Garage\, at the Improvaganza Festival of Improv\, at the O’ahu Fringe Festival\, and on the Mainstage at the Hawaiʻi Book and Music Festival. OIL IN THE ALLEY began performing in December of 2009.
