DESCRIPTION:We are excited to welcome Emmy Award Winning Choreographer Kat Burns from the CW’s hit television show\, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” to this year’s Hawaii Sketch Comedy Festival! \nKat will be teaching a dance workshop and talk back on Saturday\, October 21st from 10:30am – 12pm at Studio 909 on Kapiolani directly across from The Blaisdell Center. \nThis all level and all age workshop will feature FUN and original choreography from the hit television comedy.\nThe last 30 minutes of class will be dedicated to a talk back with Kat where participants are welcome to ask questions about her work\, story and all that jazz.

DESCRIPTION:Improv can be scary…and improvised rapping can be even scarier! SO LET’S TRY IT! Finding your flow and spitting out lyrics is like “…the feeling of freedom\, of seeing the light. It’s Ben Franklin with a key & a kite. You see it\, right?” (psst…that’s a line from Hamilton…the musical) \nIn this all level class\, students will learn the basics of freestyle rap and how to use it within improvised scenes or in your every day life. Get out of your head and into your flow! \nNO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Students will learn in a safe\, non-judemental environment where support is our number one rule. \nClass Time: 7pm – 9pm\nClasss Cost: $25 \nAbout the Instructor:\nJonah “bigMOX” Moananu is an Artist Educator\, songwriter\, and vocal recording artist specializing in singing and rapping. He has been a Teaching Artist with the Alliance for Drama Education for 17 years\, creating innovative curriculum for grades K-12 having taught at public and private schools across the state.  Musical Director of T-Shirt Theatre\, and PowowSchoolofMusic mentor.  1/4 of the NaHoku Hano Hano nominated rap group “Angry Locals\,”\, 1/2 of the “Prolific Unknowns”\, as well as lead vocalist for the Jedi jazz collective “theBentos”. Reigning undefeated Island Freestyle Rap champion\, and 3rd season of American idol semi-finalist.
