DESCRIPTION:About The Class:\nImprovisers! You’ve already got some skills…it’s time to step up your game! Hawaii’s TV and Film Industry is constantly growing. Now’s the time to prepare yourself to do your best work when you’re in the audition room. \nIn this class\, you will learn audition technique\, script analysis and scene work. Improvisers will learn essential tools to aid them in the business of acting and will learn how to create emotional truth on camera in a safe\, non judgmental environment. \nThe last 15-20 minutes of class will be used for a talk back about how to start putting yourself out there. \nAll levels welcome!\n*this class is limited to 12 students \nAbout The Instructor:\nSarah Halford is a Hawaii-born artist who has been acting professionally in Los Angeles for the last few years. She holds her Masters in Acting from one of the top grad schools in the country\, UC San Diego. While in Los Angeles\, she starred as Heather Chandler in the world premiere of Heathers: The Musical. Other professional TV and Film Credits include: “Anger Management\,” “Cristela\,” “Road Hard\,” with comedian Adam Carolla\, and numerous national commercials. Sarah has had experiences testing for top network pilots\, and circulating with the most prominent casting directors in Los Angeles and New York. Since moving home\, she was featured in the Hawaii premiere of Mamma Mia! at Diamond Head Theatre\, and received a Po’okela award for her performance. DESCRIPTION:Improv can be scary…and improvised rapping can be even scarier! SO LET’S TRY IT! Finding your flow and spitting out lyrics is like “…the feeling of freedom\, of seeing the light. It’s Ben Franklin with a key & a kite. You see it\, right?” (psst…that’s a line from Hamilton…the musical) \nIn this all level class\, students will learn the basics of freestyle rap and how to use it within improvised scenes or in your every day life. Get out of your head and into your flow! \nNO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Students will learn in a safe\, non-judemental environment where support is our number one rule. \nClass Time: 7pm – 9pm\nClasss Cost: $20 \nAbout the Instructor:\nJonah “bigMOX” Moananu is an Artist Educator\, songwriter\, and vocal recording artist specializing in singing and rapping. He has been a Teaching Artist with the Alliance for Drama Education for 17 years\, creating innovative curriculum for grades K-12 having taught at public and private schools across the state.  Musical Director of T-Shirt Theatre\, and PowowSchoolofMusic mentor.  1/4 of the NaHoku Hano Hano nominated rap group “Angry Locals\,”\, 1/2 of the “Prolific Unknowns”\, as well as lead vocalist for the Jedi jazz collective “theBentos”. Reigning undefeated Island Freestyle Rap champion\, and 3rd season of American idol semi-finalist.
