DESCRIPTION:This course is an introduction to the philosophy on sketch comedy\, specifically using “the game” to write short comedic scenes. Each week students will engage in writing exercises that will explore different sketch formats. Students will be exposed to different methods for turning funny ideas into even funnier written sketches. Students will leave the class with an understanding of popular sketch formats and a portfolio of writing. \n\n\n\nNo prior sketch writing experience is necessary — the only requirement for this class is a desire to write and learn. DESCRIPTION:This class will take the tools learned in our 101 Basics class and apply them to comedic long-form improv scenes. Students will dive deep into finding the interesting or the “funny” of their scenes by identifying shiny objects in the opening\, creating strong initiations\, and listening. \n\n\n\nClass Length:\n\n\n\nTwo 2-hour classes on Wednesday\, 4/12/23 and Thursday\, 4/13/23 \n\n\n\nPrerequisite: Must have completed Improv Hawaii’s 101 Series or be pre-approved by Improv Hawaii. \n\n\n\nClass Location:\n\n\n\nTiny Stage Hawaii\, 419 South Street #163 Honolulu\, HI 96813 \n\n\n\nEntrance:\n\n\n\nThe entrance is on South Street between Auahi and Pohukaina.
