David has directed Second City in Chicago\, Los Angeles\, Detroit\, and The Second City National Touring Company. David is a consultant for Dreamworks\, and has directed two of Amsterdam’s Boom Chicago theatre’s productions– RockStars\, and Live at the Leidseplein – Your Privacy is Our Business. He is a member of the Reduced Shakespeare Company\, and performed in their sold-out run The Complete Works of William Shakespeare\, Abridged at the Kennedy Center in Washington\, D.C. He is a co-founder of The Annoyance Theatre\, and has written for The Simpsons Comic\, The Simpsons nationally syndicated Sunday comic strip\, and was commissioned to write a film treatment for The Simpsons’ creator Matt Groening.  David is the voice of Dixon\, the world’s coolest adult\, in ABC’s animated series\, The Weekenders\, and has appeared on Spin City\, Roseanne\, andLate Night with David Letterman as the voice of Albert Brook’s parrot. \n  \nABOUT THE WORKSHOPS: \n\nViewpoints Elements – May 24th & 25th 10am – 4pm \nWhile teaching for Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre School\, Second City veteran David Razowsky was exposed to–and inspired by–the power of Anne Bogart and Tina Landau’s Viewpoints training\, and immediately saw how the tools of Viewpoints play in improv theatre. Razowsky’s two-day master class will focus the actor to spontaneously respond through compulsion rather than what choice is “right or wrong.” The actor will learn the power of working from impulse and true-play in the present moment. Prepare to see your craft in a new light\, prepare to see with new eyes\, and prepare to be rejuvenated! \n Group Scenes Reduced – May 26th 6:30pm-9:30pm \n\nA group scene doesn’t have to be a confusing or feared clusterfunk. DESCRIPTION:Chinatown\, HONOLULU – After many months of intensive study and a lot of laughs\, Laughtrack Theater Company’s latest batch of graduates will make their debut as the improv group\, Leg Full of Soup. In addition to completing the company’s three-level curriculum\, this group of performers was also fortunate to study with professional improvisers from Second City Chicago in a series of recent workshops. \nA veteran improv group and Aftermath will also be performing for the three-part show featuring new group Leg Full of Soup. The show will take place Saturday\, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) at Laughtrack at The Creative\, 1116 Smith Street. Tickets are $10 at the door. \n### \nTeam BIO\nLeg Full of Soup \nLeg Full of Soup is Laughtrack’s first graduating class for 2014. Team members have been hard at work since last September learning the art of “long form” improvisational theater\, as developed by Del Close. \nAs an improv team they learned how to create characters and build relationships\, how to work completely without a script\, explore spontaneity\, and most importantly learn how to trust their instincts. \n“I have thoroughly enjoyed learning the art of improv and becoming part of a performing improv troop\,” said team member Maggie Embick. “Over the last six months I have learned how to explore improv\, how to create a totally unscripted theatrical performance and most importantly trust my fellow team members.” \nLeg Full of Soup team members include John Cummings III\, Trevor Danielson\, Maggie Embick\, Joseph Lewis\, Tom McNamara and Anthony “Hawk” Silano. \nLeg Full of Soup invites you to join them for an entertaining evening of improvised theater!

In addition to completing the company’s three-level curriculum\, this group of performers was also fortunate to study with professional improvisers from Second City Chicago in a series of recent workshops. \nAll graduates of the Laughtrack Theater Company program are offered the chance to perform publicly in a professionally produced comedy show upon completion. Founded by Kim Potter and Shannon Winpenny in 2008\, Laughtrack has since graduated over a dozen advanced classes. Winpenny is a veteran of the Chicago improv community\, having spent ten years there performing with prestigious improv houses such as iO (formerly Improv Olympic) and Second City. \nVeteran improv groups Leg Full of Soup and Aftermath with Special Guest will also be performing for the three-part show featuring new group Requisite Octopus. The show will take place Saturday\, July 26 at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) at Laughtrack at The Creative\, 1116 Smith Street. Two (or more) actors break off and do a new scene to explore a character from the initial group game. Throughout the show we continue to return to the group scene as well as break off from it to explore characters. The center of the flower is the Group Scene and the pedals are the exploratory Two Person Scenes. It’s a great form for a group that is looking for another option than the Harold. \nABOUT PATRICK-\nPatrick studied and performed at Second City and IO in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles where he performs at IO West with the House Harold team Tub Step. He is also part of the sketch show Hot Butt which performs at Second City Hollywood\, UCB and the Comedy Central Stage. He can be seen on NBC’s Community as well as Newsreaders on Adultswim. DESCRIPTION:Mark Beltzman is coming back to Oahu!  We got A LOT of great feedback from his last workshops and we are SUPER excited to welcome him back to the islands! \nThe ART OF ALLOWING IMPROV WORKSHOP is for the ensemble actor and improvisor who desires to cultivate the ability to flawlessly and spontaneously create magic on stage and in life. “IT” comes from a place of joy and connection to one’s source intuition\, and is attained by giving yourself to the art form through LISTENING rather than thinking\, from ALLOWING rather than forcing\, from being FULLY PRESENT in the moment and FOCUSING on CONNECTION with your partner and your environment. You will understand why making your partner look good makes you in turn look twice as good and makes the work flow. Ultimately\, you will understand that this is how ensemble is created. \nThis workshop will focus on scene work. You will learn to develop tools to let scenes emerge organically\, including: \ncultivating a heightened sense of listening\ncultivating a heightened sense of awareness of the scene around you\, i.e. environment\, textures\, emotions\, body languages\, sounds\, etc.\nlearning the game within the scene\nmaking your partner look good\nfinding the joy in the exploration\ngetting out of your own way to allow creativity to flow\nunderstanding that the true magic lies in the synchronicity of you\, your partner and the audience all discovering a point of focus at the same time \nABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:\nMark Beltzman has been acting\, writing and directing since 1981. He was a founding member of Improv Olympic in Chicago and of the legendary group\, Barons Barracudas. Mark has worked and directed at the famed Second City in Chicago. He directed many improvisational and theatrical productions at Second City in Chicago and Los Angeles\, including the Second City Alumni Jam. He was also instructor/director at The Second City Training Center\, Improv Olympic West and the Upfront Comedy Showcase as well as all over the UK\, London\, Brighton and Bristol.
