Students will play and learn in a safe\, non-judgmental environment. Students will have the opportunity to perform in an improv show at the end of the session. Some improv experience is suggested. Limited Space. \nClass Dates (UPDATED): \nMay 15\, 22\, 29 (No class on 5/1 and 5/8) \nJune 5\, 12\, 19\, 26 \nJuly 10 \nSorry\, there are no drop ins for this class. \nAbout the instructor: \nHawaii born actor Kimee Balmilero has been performing professionally since 1994 thanks to her first paying gig as “Woody Woodpecker” at an Earth Day Fair.  Other professional credits include: The 3X Emmy Nominated series “Hi-5\,” the Original Broadway Cast of “Mamma Mia\,” “Miss Saigon\,” and most recently\, the recurring role of Dr. Noelani Cunha on “Hawaii Five-0.” While working in NYC and LA for 15+ years\, she studied improv & sketch comedy at the famed Uprights Citizens Brigade Theatre in Hollywood. \nKimee has performed at such venues as: Radio City Music Hall\, The Kodak Theater\, UCB in LA\, Second City-Hollywood and iO West and has been featured on “The Today Show\,” “Live with Regis and Kelly\,” and “The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.” \nSince moving back to Hawaii in 2012\, Kimee founded and is the “Head Sillypino” of  improvhi a company and website dedicated to sketch and improv comedy in Hawaii. \nIn March 2015\, she created and produced the first ever Hawaii Sketch Comedy Festival at the Honolulu Museum of Art’s Doris Duke Theater. \nA lifetime student of the legendary Ronald E. Bright\, Kimee made her directorial debut with the Hawai’i Premiere of “Mamma Mia” at the historical Diamond Head Theatre in Honolulu. The show was a hit with Hawaii audiences and was sold out for the entire run and extension.

Improvisers will learn essential tools to aid them in the business of acting and will learn how to create emotional truth on camera in a safe\, non judgmental environment. \nThe last 15-20 minutes of class will be used for a talk back about how to start putting yourself out there. \nAll levels welcome!\n*this class is limited to 12 students \nAbout The Instructor:\nSarah Halford is a Hawaii-born artist who has been acting professionally in Los Angeles for the last few years. She holds her Masters in Acting from one of the top grad schools in the country\, UC San Diego. While in Los Angeles\, she starred as Heather Chandler in the world premiere of Heathers: The Musical. Other professional TV and Film Credits include: “Anger Management\,” “Cristela\,” “Road Hard\,” with comedian Adam Carolla\, and numerous national commercials. Sarah has had experiences testing for top network pilots\, and circulating with the most prominent casting directors in Los Angeles and New York. Since moving home\, she was featured in the Hawaii premiere of Mamma Mia! at Diamond Head Theatre\, and received a Po’okela award for her performance. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to welcome Emmy Award Winning Choreographer Kat Burns from the CW’s hit television show\, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” to this year’s Hawaii Sketch Comedy Festival! \nKat will be teaching a dance workshop and talk back on Saturday\, October 21st from 10:30am – 12pm at Studio 909 on Kapiolani directly across from The Blaisdell Center. \nThis all level and all age workshop will feature FUN and original choreography from the hit television comedy.\nThe last 30 minutes of class will be dedicated to a talk back with Kat where participants are welcome to ask questions about her work\, story and all that jazz.
