DESCRIPTION:You’ve seen musicals. You’ve seen improv. You’ve seen musical improv and now you’d like to try it\, right? RIGHT? \nImprovisation is a great way to break out of your shell. MUSICAL improv is a great way to break out of your shell with an extra side of jazz hands! \nIn this two part workshop\, students will learn the basics of musical improv comedy. This class will focus on song structure\, on the fly group movement\, building want songs\, and incorporating songs into scenes. \nNO MUSICAL TRAINING REQUIRED*. Seriously. This will be a fun\, non-judgemental space where you will be to express your voice the way you want to. \nAccompanist will be provided. \nClass dates: Monday\, February 5th and 12th\nClass times: 6:30pm – 8:30pm\nClass cost: $60 \n*Participants should have some theatre or improv knowledge. \nClass space is limited.

DESCRIPTION:About The Class:\nImprovisers! You’ve already got some skills…it’s time to step up your game! Hawaii’s TV and Film Industry is constantly growing. Now’s the time to prepare yourself to do your best work when you’re in the audition room. \nIn this class\, you will learn audition technique\, script analysis and scene work. Improvisers will learn essential tools to aid them in the business of acting and will learn how to create emotional truth on camera in a safe\, non judgmental environment. \nThe last 15-20 minutes of class will be used for a talk back about how to start putting yourself out there. \nAll levels welcome!\n*this class is limited to 12 students \nAbout The Instructor:\nSarah Halford is a Hawaii-born artist who has been acting professionally in Los Angeles for the last few years. She holds her Masters in Acting from one of the top grad schools in the country\, UC San Diego. While in Los Angeles\, she starred as Heather Chandler in the world premiere of Heathers: The Musical. Other professional TV and Film Credits include: “Anger Management\,” “Cristela\,” “Road Hard\,” with comedian Adam Carolla\, and numerous national commercials. Sarah has had experiences testing for top network pilots\, and circulating with the most prominent casting directors in Los Angeles and New York. Since moving home\, she was featured in the Hawaii premiere of Mamma Mia! at Diamond Head Theatre\, and received a Po’okela award for her performance. DESCRIPTION:Instant Characters: Building strong characters starts the moment your foot hits the floor\, not the moment you start “thinking.” This workshop will focus on the organic unfolding of character based on that first step. Characters are richer\, instantly fleshed out and exciting\, all leading to playing people you’ve never inhabited\, in scenes you’ve never before played. More being…less thinking! \nAbout the Instructor \nDavid Razowsky is the respected former artistic director of the Second City Los Angeles. As a performer at Second City he worked with Steve Carrel\, Stephen Colbert\, Rachel Dratch\, and Chris Farley\, among others. David has directed Second City in Chicago\, Los Angeles\, Detroit\, and The Second City National Touring Company. David is a consultant for Dreamworks\, and has directed two of Amsterdam’s Boom Chicago theatre’s productions– RockStars\, and Live at the Leidseplein – Your Privacy is Our Business. He is a member of the Reduced Shakespeare Company\, and performed in their sold-out run The Complete Works of William Shakespeare\, Abridged at the Kennedy Center in Washington\, D.C. He is a co-founder of The Annoyance Theatre\, and has written for The Simpsons Comic\, The Simpsons nationally syndicated Sunday comic strip\, and was commissioned to write a film treatment for The Simpsons’ creator Matt Groening. David is the voice of Dixon\, the world’s coolest adult\, in ABC’s animated series\, The Weekenders\, and has appeared on Spin City\, Roseanne\, and Late Night with David Letterman as the voice of Albert Brook’s parrot. Dave will be in Honolulu to teach master classes in May 2015.

DESCRIPTION:This workshop is open to anyone interested in creating or workshopping original characters. If you have a character you’d like to work on\, bring it along for individual feedback. If not\, no fear! You will be taught different strategies and participate in exercises that help you generate characters of your own. All levels welcome! \n\nAbout the Instructor:\nKristen Rozanski has a BFA in musical theater\, and has done several theater productions in NYC and LA. TV credits include: Law and Order\, Law and Order: SVU\, Ugly Betty\, The Birthday Boys on IFC\, as well as various videos for College Humor\, and Funny or Die. She has been on two UCB Maude (sketch) teams\, and is currently part of resident sketch team Oh\, Brother! Other UCB credits include her solo show “Kristen Rozanski has Womanly Attributes”\, Those Magnificent Moms\, Quick and Funny Musicals\, and Sketch Cram.

She has taught and performed improv in Norway\, Australia\, Canada\, Argentina\, Peru\, Italy\, Germany and over thirty-five of the United States; and also on an episode of MTV “Made.” She is one-half of the duo SCRAM with Joe Bill of the Annoyance Theater. An Artistic Associate of the Chicago Improv Festival\, she has studied at the Annoyance Theater\, Improv Olympic\, the Brave New Workshop and other organizations; and is the recipient of the 2005 Chicago Improv Festival Avery Schreiber Ambassador of Improv Award\, and the 2007 Miami Improv Festival award for Best Solo Show.
