No food will be provided at Comedy Camp. \nAbout The Instructor:\nHawaii born actor Kimee Balmilero has been performing professionally since 1994 thanks to her first paying gig as “Woody Woodpecker” at an Earth Day Fair. Other professional credits include: The 3X Emmy Nominated series “Hi-5\,” the Original Broadway Cast of “Mamma Mia\,” “Miss Saigon\,” and most recently\, the recurring role of Dr. Noelani Cunha on “Hawaii Five-0.” While working in NYC and LA for 15+ years\, she studied improv & sketch comedy at the famed Uprights Citizens Brigade Theatre in Hollywood. \nKimee has performed at such venues as: Radio City Music Hall\, The Kodak Theater\, UCB in LA\, Second City-Hollywood and iO West and has been featured on “The Today Show\,” “Live with Regis and Kelly\,” and “The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.” \nSince moving back to Hawaii in 2012\, Kimee founded and is the “Head Sillypino” of improvhi a company and website dedicated to sketch and improv comedy in Hawaii. \nIn March 2015\, she created and produced the first ever Hawaii Sketch Comedy Festival at the Honolulu Museum of Art’s Doris Duke Theater. \nA lifetime student of the legendary Ronald E. Bright\, Kimee made her directorial debut with the Hawai’i Premiere of “Mamma Mia” at the historical Diamond Head Theatre in Honolulu. The show was a hit with Hawaii audiences and was sold out for the entire run and extension. \nIn her spare time\, Kimee enjoys karaoke-ing\, garage sale-ing\, instagram-ing\, eating diner spaghetti\, pretending like she’s a contestant on “Top Chef\,” and dreaming about sinigang.

Mr. Bachler has also been seen on the musical theatre stages on Oahu\, Cabaret and Legally Blonde at Diamond Head Theatre\, as well as Next to Normal and Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein at Manoa Valley Theatre. He has done commercial work for Outrigger Hotels and co-starred in Parenthood: The Musical for BabyCenter.com. \nMr. Bachler found his roots in performing back in high school where he studied drama for 3 years. He has also studied and performed with Olympic Ballet Theatre\, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Pacific Northwest Ballet. \nLarissa DLG. Franzen\nLarissa DLG. Franzen is one of the foremost improvisers in Hawaii. Larissa has been playing steadily in Hawaii since 2007\, been training improvisers in Hawaii since 2009\, and has been a prevailing force in the Hawaii improv community. Larissa began her career studying in Honolulu with the foremost improvisers of the time\, and trained with some of the best improvisers from Chicago and New York. She has studied improv through Second City master improviser Jeff Griggs and Chicago Improv Festival Executive Producer Jonathan Pitts. Larissa is constantly expanding and sharing that knowledge\, as she believes that everyone has the right to play.

You guys make a huge difference to kids”\n-Jackie P\n• “Encouraging children to call upon the tools of courage\, providing them with tools of public speaking and quick thinking\, and creating an environment of laughter.”\n-Neenze F \nThe Youth Improv Program is an 8-week annual training program designed for ages 8-15 years old meeting once a week to train and socialize with their teammates and develop as unique and creative people using the performing Art of Improvisation. Through improvising students learn essential social\, acting\, and performance skills together with their fellow teammates. \nOpen and honest communication\, developing trust in others\, supporting teammates\, listening\, focusing\, and positive agreement are key skills that are trained are essential to all aspects of life as well as performance. DESCRIPTION:Students ages 8-17 will meet once a week to socialize with their teammates and develop as unique and creative people using the performing art of Improvisation. Through improvisation\, students will learn essential social\, acting\, and performance skills together with their fellow teammates. Open and honest communication\, developing trust in others\, supporting teammates\, listening\, focusing\, and positive agreement are key skills essential to life as well as in the art of Improvisation. These skills are taught while having fun\, students will warm-up with each other\, playing games and exercises that have been built using the key skills as a foundation and have been used to train famous improvisers and actors for over 50 years. All of these exercises are done alongside their peers. At the end of the each 6-week session students will perform a showcase for their family and friends!

SUMMARY:Kyle Isao Inouye Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Every performer\, old or new\, makes mistakes. Part of the problem is in knowing how to treat a mistake. Another part is being intimidated by the possibility of a mistake and performers who never seem to make them. This workshop is about how to change a mistake into a gift and how to be a stronger improviser/ actor/ comedian. \nThis workshop is directed by Actor and Improviser Kyle Isao Inouye\, an improviser and actor with over 10 years of improv performance experience at IO West\, Upright Citizens Brigade and Second City LA. Isao has also been seen on CBS’ Everybody Loves Raymond\, NBC’s Will and Grace\, the 2011 viral short “George Lucas Strikes Back”\, and the upcoming motion picture\, Martial Science. \nThis workshop will be very active. Wear comfortable\, moveable clothing. We will be playing games and exercises that will require you to move around. This is NOT a lecture\, where you will sit around\, and fall asleep\, bored out of your brains. DESCRIPTION:Mr Aaron’s Youth Improv Learning Experience players take the stage for the first time to join members of IYFI\, Th!nk Fast\, and Sucker Punch in a comedy showcase! The improv groups join forces for a night of laughter and intrigue\, chuckles and chaos\, creating worlds and the characters that inhabit them\, with the assistance of the newest improvisers in Hawaii. Come watch as the students showcase what they have learned in the last 8 weeks\, the students then join forces in the second half with Chris Riel\, Shawn Thompson\, Jasmine Fernandez and Aaron Pughes! Bring a sense of humor and be prepared to give suggestions for this once in a lifetime show! \nLight refreshments provided\, you can also bring your own food and drinks. \nWard’s Rafters is on Maunaloa between 15th and 16th Ave in Kaimuki. Doors open at 6pm and seating is strictly first come\, first serve. Carpooling is HIGHLY recommended because parking is a pain in that area.
