DESCRIPTION:Trying improv for the first time or just getting back into the swing of things? This intro level set of classes are designed to give you the basic tools of improv comedy. Our classes have been organized in 3 different “sub levels” to best suit most schedules. \nAll classes are 2 hours long. Students will learn the value of “yes\, and”-ing\, listening\, agreement\, support\, and more in a safe\, non judgmental environment.\nPrerequisite: No experience required \nClass Dates:\n101A – 3/19\, 3/26\, 4/2\n101B – 4/16\, 4/23\, 4/30\n101C  – 5/14\, 5/21\, 6/4 (No class on 5/28 – Memorial Day) \nClass Times:\n7pm – 9pm \nClass Location:\nAll classes will be held at Arts at Marks Garage 1159 Nuuanu Avenue \nInstructor:\nJose \nClass Cost:\nAll Levels $200 (18 hours of instruction + discount on shows)\n101A\, 101B or 101C ONLY $75 (6 hours of instruction each + discount on shows) \nAbout Improvhi:\nFounded in 2012 by local actor Kimee Balmilero (Noelani Cunha on “Hawaii Five-0\,” Original Broadway Cast “Mamma Mia\,” National Touring Company of “Miss Saigon”)\, improvhi (or improv hawaii) is a group of young (and not so young) improvisers\, comedians\, actors\, teachers\, parents\, realtors\, surfers\, data analysts\, creatives and every day folks based in Honolulu who like to make people laugh. DESCRIPTION:You’ve seen musicals. You’ve seen improv. You’ve seen musical improv and now you’d like to try it\, right? RIGHT? \nImprovisation is a great way to break out of your shell. MUSICAL improv is a great way to break out of your shell with an extra side of jazz hands! \nIn this two part workshop\, students will learn the basics of musical improv comedy. This class will focus on song structure\, on the fly group movement\, building want songs\, and incorporating songs into scenes. \nNO MUSICAL TRAINING REQUIRED*. Seriously. DESCRIPTION:About The Class:\nImprovisers! You’ve already got some skills…it’s time to step up your game! Hawaii’s TV and Film Industry is constantly growing. Now’s the time to prepare yourself to do your best work when you’re in the audition room. \nIn this class\, you will learn audition technique\, script analysis and scene work. Improvisers will learn essential tools to aid them in the business of acting and will learn how to create emotional truth on camera in a safe\, non judgmental environment. \nThe last 15-20 minutes of class will be used for a talk back about how to start putting yourself out there. \nAll levels welcome!\n*this class is limited to 12 students \nAbout The Instructor:\nSarah Halford is a Hawaii-born artist who has been acting professionally in Los Angeles for the last few years. She holds her Masters in Acting from one of the top grad schools in the country\, UC San Diego. While in Los Angeles\, she starred as Heather Chandler in the world premiere of Heathers: The Musical. Other professional TV and Film Credits include: “Anger Management\,” “Cristela\,” “Road Hard\,” with comedian Adam Carolla\, and numerous national commercials. Sarah has had experiences testing for top network pilots\, and circulating with the most prominent casting directors in Los Angeles and New York. Since moving home\, she was featured in the Hawaii premiere of Mamma Mia! at Diamond Head Theatre\, and received a Po’okela award for her performance. DESCRIPTION:In this class\, students will start to learn the basic tools of long form comedic improv through games and scene work. Students should have some improv experience. \nOnly 14 spots per class. \n$12 drop in or $90 for all 9 classes \nClass dates: 4/18\, 4/25\, 5/2\, 5/9\, 5/16\, 5/23\, 6/6\, 6/13\, 6/20 \nClass times: 7pm – 8pm \nMore about Kimee: Hawaii born actor\, Kimee Balmilero has been performing professionally since 1994 thanks to her first paying gig as “Woody Woodpecker” at an Earth Day Fair.  Other professional credits include: The 3X Emmy Nominated TV series “Hi-5\,” the Original Broadway Cast of “Mamma Mia\,” “Miss Saigon\,” and “Hawaii Five-0.” While working in NYC and LA for 15+ years\, she studied improv and sketch comedy at the famed Uprights Citizens Brigade Theatre. A member of the award winning sketch comedy troupe “Drug Puppy”\, Kimee has performed at such venues as: UCB in LA\, Second City-Hollywood\, iO West\, Radio City Music Hall and the Kodak Theater. \nNow living back in Hawaii since 2012\, you can catch Kimee performing sketch & improv comedy and teaching improv to kids and adults in Kaka’ako and around the island.  She is the founder and “Head Sillypino” of  improvhi.com a website dedicated to sketch and improv comedy in Hawaii. Kimee is also the creator and producer of the first ever Hawaii Sketch Comedy Festival. \nWhen not drooling over improv\, diner spaghetti and spumoni\, Kimee enjoys karaoke-ing\, garage sale-ing\, instagram-ing and pretending like she’s a contestant on “Top Chef.”
